I’ve really been getting into the summer mood. I’ve been working way too much lately, and I’m starting to get the feels for relaxing by the pool. Summer means barbecuing delicious foods and making some amazing side dishes! One of my staple sides is macaroni salad made with tuna!
I’ve been making this on a monthly basis since I don’t remember when now. It’s always been such a quick and easy way to prep food and people will love it! You only need a few simple ingredients and literally only about 15 minutes!
What You’ll Need
- Celery Salt
- Bell Pepper
You’re going to want to start by cooking your macaroni. I boiled a large pot of water on the stove and let my macaroni cook for about 10 minutes in total. Some pastas may take longer than others to cook, so cook it to your preference! (I also just eyeballed the amount of macaroni I used. I change the amount of macaroni salad I make all of the time, so I don’t have specific measurements!)
When your macaroni is cooked, strain it and cool it down with cold water. If you’re not eating it right away you can let it sit in the fridge once completely assembled, but if you are eating it right away run cold water over it until its cold.
While I was cooking my macaroni, I cut up about 8 baby carrots, two celery stalks, and about a third of a bell pepper into small diced chucks. I set all of the diced pieces in a bowl off to the side until I was completely ready to assemble my macaroni salad!
After my macaroni was cool I transferred it from a strainer into a large bowl. I used a small can of flaked tuna in water and used this fancy press to rid the can of the water. When the tuna was free from water I dumped the can on top of my macaroni and added about a cup and a half of mayonnaise with my diced vegetables.
About a teaspoon of celery salt was used along with some salt and pepper to taste. Lastly I topped it all off with paprika!
In total I spent about 15 minutes on this recipe. It turned out as delicious as always!
What are some of your favourite things to add into your macaroni salad?
